The day started with some news. Early results showed Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan losing to UDFs V.P. Abdul Rasheed in his area of Dharmadam. Even though Pinarayi Vijayan eventually won his seat by a margin of around 19,000 votes his party was already in trouble.
By the afternoon Pinarayi Vijayan knew he had to resign. He gave his resignation to Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. This means the end of his ten-year rule.
According to the reports the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam party was leading in almost 100 seats by the late morning. Some people even said they were leading in 102 seats. This is a deal for a new party and it could change the politics of Tamil Nadu.
The biggest surprise was in Kolathur, where Chief Minister MK Stalin has always won.. This time the TVK candidate VS Babu won by 8,795 votes. This result is being called one of the upsets of the election.
What the trends suggest

Next for Kerala?
Now that the UDF is going to form the government people are wondering who will be the Chief Minister. The Congress party is celebrating,. They know they have a lot of work to do. They made some promises in their manifesto like changing the social security and IT sectors.
The LDF party is going to have to think about what they did wrong. For the time in ten years they will not be in power. They will have to sit in the opposition and face the UDF and the BJP, who now have three members, in the House.
